In the Philippines, Madrasah remains to be a separate entity from the education system, both as an institution and as a curriculum. Even among private Madrasah schools in the country, there is no unified curriculum to speak of.
“Madrasah started as a Koranic school that evolved into a regular school. Most Filipino-Muslim students study abroad for Madrasah education and those who come back often start a school that uses a foreign curriculum. That’s why Madrasah institutions in the Philippines do not have a unified curriculum.”
